Roy Diaz joined Lawrence Beach Allen & Choi as an associate in 2018. Mr. Diaz’s areas of practice include public entity defense and civil rights defense.
Education and Other Experience
Mr. Diaz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English Literature from Whittier College in 1998. In 2001, Mr. Diaz graduated from Southwestern Law School. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Diaz spent nearly two decades as a sworn law enforcement officer with the Los Angeles and San Bernardino Police Departments, and also worked with the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office as an investigator. Mr. Diaz has worked a variety of assignments, including leading the investigation of several high-profile critical incidents, uses of force, and public integrity matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Diaz worked in private practice representing police officers involved in critical incidents and employment matters with a focus on the California Public Safety Officers’ Procedural Bill of Rights Act (POBRA).
